This chain & matching pendant are easy to make & would be an excellent project for a beginner.
Materials:
Size 15 Japanese seed beads were used in the model.
#191 24 kt gold plated
#190 nickel plated
Beading thread fine enough to make multiple passes through the beads & a size 12 or 13 beading needle are also needed.
The tear drop stone used in the pendant is a 25mm X 18mm Amazonite.
The finished length of the model chain is 22 inches with 26 open silver links & 25 triple diamond gold links plus one single diamond link at the beginning of the chain. The length is adjustable since any of the open links will hold the toggle closure.
The length of the model pendant is 1 1/2 inches.
Illustration 1: Make the first diamond link by picking up 8 gold beads. Following the thread path from black through red, then blue; needle through one bead & skip the next.
End by needling through the next two beads.
Keep the thread inside the loop when the beads are skipped. This will force the skipped beads (corner beads) to pop out.
Note: The thread path in each illustration starts at the black arrow & goes from black through red & then blue.
Illustration 2: Pick up 9 silver beads, 1 gold bead & 9 more silver beads. Follow the thread path as shown to make the first silver open loop.

Illustration 3: For the next diamond link pick up 7 gold beads. Needle through the gold corner bead of the completed open silver link & the first bead of the 7 just picked up.
Following the illustration, skip the next bead & needle through the following bead; ending by needling through the next 2 beads.
Make two more diamond links in the same way as this one. Then continue adding 1 open silver link & 3 gold diamond links to the desired length.
End with a silver open link made with 18 silver beads, omitting the gold bead placed in the other open silver links. One more silver bead will be attached when attaching the beaded toggle.
Make a beaded toggle 7 beads wide by eight rows high, embellishing the ends as shown below..

Illustration 4: Add a gold bead to each end of the toggle tube as shown; passing the needle through the center of the tube from end to end.
Illustration 5: Complete a diamond link on each end of the tube using the gold beads added in the last step as the first corner bead.
Attach the beaded toggle to the chain following the directions below.

Illustration 6: Pick up 1 silver bead & needle through the beads of the final silver link of the chain, the corner bead of the diamond link & through the bead of the toggle as shown.
Repeat this thread path two or three times to strengthen the attachment of the toggle.
